In a milestone effort to boost entrepreneurship and drive inclusive economic participation, FoodBev Manufacturing SETA proudly supported 10 dynamic SMMEs to exhibit at the first-ever Africa Food Show, held from 10–12 June 2025 at the Cape Town International Convention Centre (CTICC). This landmark event brought together over 5,000 visitors, 350+ exhibitors, and a range of influential industry players for three days of exhibitions, networking, panel discussions, and knowledge exchange. FoodBev SETA demonstrated its commitment to enterprise development by fully supporting 10 standout SMMEs in the food and beverage manufacturing sector to participate in a prominent exhibition. This platform provided them with unparalleled opportunities for visibility, networking with potential partners, and accessing new markets, showcasing their products to a vast network of buyers, investors, and stakeholders across the continent. “Supporting SMMEs to access high-impact platforms like the Africa Food Show is central to our mission,” said FoodBev SETA Senior Manager of Stakeholder Relations, Makatseng Mokome. “We’re not just investing in businesses; we’re investing in communities, in transformation, and in a more inclusive food economy. These 10 enterprises are the embodiment of innovation and resilience, and we’re honoured to walk this journey with them.” The participating SMMEs included: HealthStart, Mtswako Immune Booster Company, Kgarose Kgaros, Sweet Angels Artisan Confectionary, Finèst Frozen Yoghurt, Karoo Flavour, Delicious Festival Trader Academy powered by FoodBev SETA, Mama Seamoss, Loutaya Artisanal Tea and Seeds For Life. “Exhibiting at the Africa Food Show was a game changer for us. With FoodBev SETA’s support, we secured our first formal market listing – something we’ve worked toward for years. This experience gave us more than exposure; it gave us momentum.” said Tanya van Stade, founder of Seeds For Life. The Africa Food Show also featured a high-level panel discussion series on sector trends and challenges. A highlight of the event was the impactful presentation delivered by FoodBev SETA CEO, Ms. Nokuthula Selamolela, on the topic of food safety as a catalyst for economic growth. Her address underscored the importance of skills development and systems strengthening in building consumer trust, opening trade doors, and improving public health across the continent.
