South African digital learning provider New Leaf Technologies has secured a major international win at the Learning Technologies Awards 2025 in London, taking home Silver for Best Learning Platform Implementation. The ceremony, held at the Park Plaza Westminster Bridge Hotel, is one of the most competitive events in global workplace learning.

Judged by 64 international experts, the award recognises the company’s high-impact implementation of a fully customised aNewSpring Learning Experience Platform (LXP) for Worth, a leading financial-education organisation. The win signals the growing global recognition of South Africa’s learning and development (L&D) expertise.

Transforming access to financial literacy

New Leaf Technologies’ award-winning platform has reshaped how South Africans access financial education, delivering scale, accessibility, and measurable behaviour change. The project achieved:

• More than 12 700 learners onboarded
• 65 percent completion rate
• 80 percent activation within two weeks
• Over 99 percent cost reduction (from R6,499 to R5 per learner)
• Seamless mobile access via WhatsApp and email
• Real-time Power BI dashboards for instant analytics

Judges highlighted the platform’s innovative design, user-friendly experience, and strong behavioural-nudging features. They also noted the measurable impact, with thousands of learners reporting improved financial habits and reduced debt.

Local innovation, global recognition

New Leaf Technologies CEO Paul Hanly says the win is both a milestone and a reflection of South Africa’s world-class capability:
“This is a proud moment for us and for South African learning professionals. Competing at this level and earning global recognition shows the depth of creativity, technical expertise, and impact-driven design within our team.”

The Learning Technologies Awards are widely regarded as the global benchmark for excellence in digital learning. With entries from Europe, the Middle East, North America, and Asia-Pacific, the Silver award confirms that South African learning design and platform implementation match the best in the world.

A platform built for scale and behaviour change

The Worth platform combines technology, behavioural insights, and mobile-first design to meet learners where they are. Key features include:

• One-tap access through WhatsApp, no passwords required
• Automated high-volume enrolment
• Smart nudges to maintain progress
• A fully mobile-optimised interface
• Custom branding aligned to the client’s identity
• Data-rich reporting for financial institutions

Beyond performance metrics, learners reported improved budgeting, reduced reliance on debt, and greater confidence in financial decision-making.

Growing South Africa’s L&D reputation

Hanly believes the achievement supports the growth and international visibility of local learning talent:
“South Africa has exceptional capability in digital learning strategy and design. This award showcases that excellence and encourages global collaboration, recognition, and investment.”

The win arrives at a time when local organisations are expanding their investment in digital learning, capability-building, and large-scale workforce development. Advanced learning platforms, such as the Worth LXP, are becoming central to this transformation.
