ITHUBA IS CHANGING LIVES ONE FAMILY AT A TIME OVER THE FESTIVE SEASON

by Tia

ITHUBA’s 2023 housing project is an impressive cross-country feat, supporting many citizens who are differently abled by providing them with secure homes. On Tuesday,  Edward Makolane, Thabo and Bellinha Dibodu were grateful beneficiaries.

ITHUBA kicked off their housing roadshow in the South of Johannesburg today, meeting their first beneficiary Edward Makolane in Lenasia.

Edward Makolane (41), has been living in an informal shack that has no roads leading to or from his home. Makolane is wheelchair-bound and has been having great difficulty living in a home that doesn’t cater to his disability or give him access to his own bathroom. Makolane is emotional when he says this new beginning means so much, saying ‘Finally my child can come home – knowing that I can provide this safe space is very special.’

Thabo and Bellinha Dibodu have been awaiting an RDP house for the past decade, while providing for their family from their two-bedroom shack in Sloville, without electricity or running water. Bellinha excitedly says that this house is heaven-sent, “ITHUBA came through for us because we were not going to be able to build ourselves a house anytime soon!”

ITHUBA.  Changing lives one family at a time.
