The Conscious Leadership and Ethics Summit 2024 – being held on Thursday, May 9, at the Venue in Melrose Arch – takes place at a critical time for South Africa and weeks before the country’s general election.

Conscious Companies, has since its inception in 2016, encouraged leaders to develop a much needed ethical, honourable and responsible way of doing business – this at a crucial time when true leadership around the globe is floundering and is in a state of flux.

This year’s event has garnered some of the world’s best minds to share their leadership strategies, experiences and insights on consciousness, ethics, morality and transformation in business and society to enable a shift in behaviour and embed ethical, conscious leadership.

Local and global icons, humanitarians and some of the country’s foremost thinkers on consciousness, governance, ethics and wisdom, who will be participating in the Summit, include South Africa Auditor General Tsakani Maluleke and Palesa Phili, the CEO of the Durban Chamber of Commerce and Industries as well as the two 2023 Conscious Companies Award winners – Lubin Ozoux (CEO of Sumitomo Rubber South Africa) who won in the business category and cardiothoracic surgeon Dr Wilhelm Lichtenberg, aka the Singing Surgeon and founder of Young Hearts Africa, who took top spot in the NGO category.

The one-day summit features two panel discussions: Conscious, Ethical Leadership: Its Impact on the Reputation and Brand of a Company or Country, chaired by Michael Judin (from Judin and Combrinck Attorneys) and Embedding a New Framework for Conscious Ethical Leadership: Given the Elections and the Demise of Truth and Transparency with Panel Chair  Marc Lubner (Executive Deputy Chairman: Africa Tikkun).

Other speakers include Prof. Mervyn King, Hoosain Karjieker, Romain Duverge, Guru Kali and Adam Craker, CEO IQbusiness, who is the director of programmes for the day.

Says Brenda Kali, the founder of Conscious Companies and the CEO of the Conscious Leadership & Ethics Institute, who will herself being speaking at the summit: “The annual Summit has always been a clarion call for change to embed conscious, ethical leadership and place the welfare of human beings first.”

The outcome of the Summit is the Conscious Leadership Strategic Report, which will provide a profound new framework to the leadership of this country to help, think and identify what’s missing, what’s gone wrong and what needs to be done. The Report – a compilation of the voices of the delegates, speakers, panellists and international icons from the Summit – nurtures a fervent hope that leaders will have the courage and resilience to act on its insights and input. It is collated to offer some solutions to embed conscious ethical behaviour and inspire leaders to pioneer inward transformative journeys to grasp consciousness.

The Conscious Leadership and Ethics Summit 2024 is presented by Conscious Companies and the Mail & Guardian in partnership with Sumitomo Rubber South Africa, Joe Public and Syz and in association with Primeserv, Agni Media Concepts, Afrika Tikkun and Boake Incorporated.
