Ditsobotla Municipality’s ghost workers claim questioned
Trade unions in Ditsobotla Local Municipality in Lichtenburg, North West, have questioned the validity of the process used to verify personnel in the municipality. Acting North West Premier Nono Maloyi recently claimed that 28 ghost employees have been detected. According to the unions, many of these people have been working on a contract basis for several months and should now be hired permanently.
“We have already discovered 28 ghost workers.” But let me assure Ditsobotla residents that we will not pay ghost workers with government funds. We will expel the ghost workers in Ditsobotla, as well as those who hired them. The police will arrive and perform their duties,” says Maloyi.
